Hamlet Newton High and Orfeo Group

First blog entry. I have arrived in the 21st century.Perhaps I’ll have a Facebook page–scared of that– soon.

Had the great pleasure of attending the Newton North/South High collaboration ofHamlet on Friday night. Maddie Shulman who is off to Carnegie Mellon in late summer), Hayley Godstein and Allegra Borak, three very special students of mine, were all quite wonderful. Maddie as Hamlet–well, really–one of the best interpretations I’ve ever seen! Not kidding. Her ease with the text, with movement, with telling the story breathtaking. And Allegra as the head Player, brilliant movement and text work…delightful.  And Hayley, the Young Player. Stage presence, joy in the doing and a grasp of Shakespeare’s words that’s amazing. Congratulations to Sara Rose the wonderful director, the designers–set and lighting were very beautiful and all the cast. An inspiring evening in the theatre.

Went to the Orfeo Group’s fundraiser last night. now those folks are a very special company of actors/directors/teachers. PLease take a look at their net project, a part of which we were treated to last night. Go and bring friends. It’s a very ‘audacious’ play. One of their missions is to bring audacious plays to share with their audiences. See info below.
